Answer Engine Optimization

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is the practice of structuring web content so large language models can extract and cite it accurately in generated answers.

AEO overlaps with SEO in the retrieval phase but diverges at the extraction phase. Where SEO optimizes for rank in a list, AEO optimizes for citation in a generated response.
